JOB SUMMARY
The Tower Crane Instructor is responsible, as directed by the Lead Instructor or Campus Director, for the safe training of all students. The Instructor should be knowledgeable on the equipment used for training as well as the curriculum. The Instructor must assure that all equipment is in safe working condition and all operations at the training facilities are performed in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Promotes safety all in aspects of the job.
· Teaches adult learners to safely operate heavy equipment and/or cranes.
· Understands and applies the school's curriculum, textbook, visual aids, learning management systems (LMS) and presentations.
· Presents information and concepts clearly.
· Assesses the student's ability to understand and apply concepts taught in the classroom as well as their ability to safely operate equipment in the field in order to pass written and practical exams.
· Provides tutoring to individual students to help improve both curriculum understanding and
operating abilities.
· Records student attendance in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
· Assesses Student Academic Progress (SAP) and administers appropriate plans of action to correct any deficiencies.
· Participates in required professional development activities.
· Adapts to different learning styles in the classroom and field setting.
· Attentive, active and visible on the field during field site operations and accessible 1n the classroom building.
· Contributes to the Institutional Assessment and Improvement Planning (IAIP) process.
· Participates in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings as needed.
· Adapts work and training schedule in preparation or response to inclement weather.
· Assists Career Services, as requested, with job placement and obtaining employment verification for graduates.
· Actively promotes the school to gain positive referrals in pursuit of training objectives.
· Travels periodically to other locations to substitute for short-term instructor vacancies.
· Works Friday schedule to assist students with make-up time and additional seat time.
· Works Friday and/or Saturday schedule to teach B2B courses as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
· A certificate, diploma or degree equivalent to or exceeding the program they are teaching.
· (Crane only) Current practical examiner certification through NCCCO.
· (Heavy Equipment) ADEPT Certified
· A minimum of 3 years verifiable experience operating the equipment being taught.
· Understanding of the basic maintenance requirements for each piece of equipment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Previous teaching, coaching or public speaking experience preferred.
· Well-versed in Microsoft Office products including, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. Excel preferred but not required.
