Location: Mesa with some travel to specific jobsites
Must have at least 2 years of experience in mechanics and diesel
Must have knowledge in heavy equipment (Motor graders, dozers, excavators etc)
Must have experience in variety of mechanical repairs including engine tune-ups, brakes, electrical and hydraulic system repair.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Summary:
This is a 40 hour per week, full-time position with a possibility of overtime. Under the supervision of the Shop Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains, repairs, diesel-powered construction and automotive equipment.
Examines and locates mechanical defects in equipment.
Makes a variety of mechanical repairs including engine tune-ups, brakes, electrical and hydraulic system repair.
Maintains records of time and materials used on each job.
Skillfully and safely operates a variety of light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
Reports damaged or faulty equipment to management.
Other Important Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to work overtime.
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices relating to the repair of construction equipment & pickup truck repair and maintenance.
Ability to inspect and approve construction equipment repair work.
Ability to locate mechanical defects and estimate the type and feasibility of repairs.
Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions.
Maintains accurate records and reports.
Use of welding equipment to fabricate, rebuild, and strengthen various equipment parts is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must have ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and lift.
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds in performance of duties.
Exposure to moving machinery which includes all trucks and equipment noises caused by heavy equipment and tools.
Exposure to dust, fumes, and other irritants.
Education and Experience Requirements
Valid driver's license
Acceptable driving record is a plus.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and MVR check.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles and equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on diesel engines
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes, shocks, struts, and power systems
- Use power tools and other equipment to disassemble, assemble, and repair diesel engines
- Operate heavy equipment, such as tractors and trailers, for testing and diagnostic purposes
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role
- Strong knowledge of air brake systems and vehicle maintenance
- Familiarity with automotive repair techniques and procedures
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with clients and address their concerns
- Proficient in using power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
